Some captaincy movement to report - Alan Newman has stepped back from his role as the Fourth XI captain and will be ably replaced by Andy Mayne. Andy ‘arrived’ at the club in 2018, playing one Sunday fixture and has slowly started playing more, starting with some Vets games before ‘graduating’ to League and Slam cricket last season. We’re really happy Andy has agreed to take up the reins with the Fourth XI. The team came so very close to promotion last season under the stewardship of Alan and hopefully can go one step further this year. It goes without saying, we owe a huge debt of thanks to Alan for guiding the team forward last year, a job that amongst all playing roles is generally considered the hardest of them all.
