Junior Cricket as we come out of Lockdown

Updated: Apr 4, 2021

We’re keeping our fingers well and truly crossed for a good summer ahead, so here’s a quick summary of our plans for junior cricket.

Coaching - We’re hopeful that we’ll be able to return to Friday evening coaching sessions for our U5 (Reception Class) to U14 (Year 9) cricketers in late April/early May. However, if Covid restrictions don’t allow this to happen we have a contingency plan in place for all age groups to train at separate times during the week. All decisions that we take about junior coaching will depend on the guidance we receive from the ECB. Our U15-18s (Years 10-13) training days are yet to be determined.

Matches – Again we are hopeful that junior league matches for the U9-16s will be able to go ahead this season and we will be putting in our entries, after consulting with our junior coaches, later this week. We’ll also be entering the U19 ECB Cup for our older players and the Sussex Junior Cricket Festival in the summer holidays for U11-18s.

Volunteering - As we’re sure you can imagine, all of this takes a great deal of time and effort to organise. So, we’re always pleased to welcome new volunteers to help our junior age groups with admin, coaching or just by being an extra pairs of hands where necessary. Please do get in touch by emailing us at info@wctcc.org.uk if you can spare some time to help out.

If you have any queries or need to get in touch with us regarding junior cricket, contact us at info@wctcc.org.uk and we’ll get back to you.
