New Members

These are our favourite types of posts as we welcome to the club a host of new members in 2022.

We start with transfers from other SCL clubs and Louis Storey has moved across from East Preston where he began his cricketing journey, before stints at Billingshurst and Horsham, before returning to East Preston last season after Covid and injury. Louis is a batsmen who brings with him experience of playing in Division 2 where we find ourselves this year!

Also transferring to Chilt is Jack Smith, a left-arm quick bowler who comes across from Billingshurst where he has been playing since 2019 and last season also in Division 2 for their First XI.

We’ve already announced our new Club coach Jordan Palmer-Goddard but he is also coming to us as a player, not just a coach. Jordan is a batsman who has been playing his cricket for Portsmouth in the Southern Premier Cricket League.

A number of new members have joined due to moving to the local area. Julian ‘Jules’ Hunt has moved to West Chiltington and transfers across from Preston Nomads, he has also recently been playing at Streat & Westmeston. Jules is a batsman (some of you might remember his smashing it everywhere in our President’s Day game last year) and off-spin bowler. Another newbie to the area is Martin Crowther who transfers from his old club Wickham Park near Bromley in Kent. Martin describes himself as a bowling all-rounder and was introduced to the club through TvN and Smithy at a Holiday Cricket Camp his son was attending. 19 year-old Fraser Hancock joins us having moved to West Sussex from Cheshire where he previously played for Kingsley. Fraser is (his words) a full time beer drinker and part-time batsman and was persuaded to play at the club as he bumped into Jason one day whilst passing the club!

In addition Yasir Iqbal has transferred from Lancing, we welcome back Rhys Atkins who transfers from East Grinstead.

Saving perhaps the best for last we also welcome back Morne Louw who is returning from South Africa after a two-year hiatus! Morne will be our overseas player for 2022 as he was in 2019. He was due to return in 2020 before Covid struck. Morne is primarily a batsman but proved a more than useful asset with the ball (and gloves!) when required. It's great to have Morne back at the club.

In the opposite direction, Ed White has taken the decision to move to Pagham who are a bit closer to home for him and Jordan Dear has transferred across to West Wittering. We are obviously disappointed to lose them both and wish them the best of luck in their new surroundings.

It goes without saying we offer a warm welcome to all our newbies and wish them good fortune in green and gold, hopefully the runs flow and the wickets fall, but most of all you enjoy your time at the club!
