Newsletter - 13 May 2019

Dear Members and Friends of the Club,

The season is well underway with a great deal of cricket having already been played by our senior and junior sides.  We are particularly pleased that we've been able to start playing matches at our new Thakeham ground, which is now the permanent home of our 3rd XI and will also be used by our women's team and several junior age groups. The pavilion will be officially opened on Friday 24th May....

Party at our new Thakeham Ground - Friday 24th May We are celebrating the opening of our new Pavilion and ground at Thakeham on 24th May.   There will be a Hog Roast and BBQ from 5.30pm and a live band.  The bar will be open serving real ale, lager, wine, spirits and soft drinks.  PLEASE NOTE THE BAR WILL BE CASH ONLY. Our band for the night will be The Superstrings, who play a mix of swing, gypsy, jazz and bluegrass.  A fiddle, guitar and bass, three guys and some real swinging tunes... Junior training will take place AT THAKEHAM, though in a different format to regular training (please see below for timings).  There will be fun activities and prizes to be won.  Before colts training there is a 20/20 match being played, which you are more than welcome to come and watch.  The bar will be open all afternoon and tea and cakes will also be available. Parking will be tight, we are arranging for extra space to be made in the village, please look out for signs and directions.  Please park as carefully and closely as possible and car share where possible. The address of the ground is: The Cricket Pavilion Pavilion Close Abingworth Thakeham West Sussex RH20 3GY Please come along and support your club and please don't forget it's a cash bar.

Junior Training - 24th May Please note that junior training will take place at our new ground in Thakeham on the 24th May. The first session will start at 6pm and the second at 7.15pm.  There will be no training at West Chiltington on this date only. Umpiring Training in West Chilt Pavilion, TONIGHT Mon 13th May 7pm

Jim Gee & Mike Charman have kindly prepared an introduction to umpiring session which will be very useful for all helpers within the club; I’m pretty sure we could all learn from it.

By attending you are not offering your service to the club as an adult umpire.  You are simply extending your knowledge of the rules.

Junior Coaches, Friday night assistant helpers, Parents or anyone who would occasionally like to help out with junior umpiring are all welcome to come along as the more people who understand the rules the better!

Women's Softball Cricket Coaching and Introduction to Cricket

We have started women's softball training at the club on Friday nights 7.15-8.45pm.  Do come along and join in these fun sessions if you would like to have a go at cricket.  All welcome.

All the best

Jason
