Women's Indoor VI fall short vs Horsham

The Women's team played our first women's indoor match yesterday and put up a respectable performance against Horsham.

We lost the toss and Horsham put us in to bat.  Not the ideal scenario, especially as top batter Sophie Grayson was unwell so Sarah had to step in as our opener. We feared a short lived game with wickets tumbling fast but in fact lasted our 10 overs without losing all our wickets and posted a respectable score of 74.  All batters made a contribution with Rose our top scorer (I think - scoring was done by the umpire) and Carla hitting the only boundary on what was her debut cricket match. All we had to do was stop Horsham from scoring.  We held them to 5 runs per over for the first 3 overs, they upped the run rate slightly for the next 3 overs but then, with 4 wickets in hand and one batter retired, they really opened up and starting hitting 4s and 6s off every other ball. They finally passed our total with 10 balls to spare but all in all it was a very promising performance from the West Chilt women.
